beewax, pigments, birch
Bark protects a tree from unwanted influences from the outside world, such as climate change, extreme weather events, viruses, fungi and bacteria; serving as a protective shield.
The forests are our shields, protecting us, as bark protects the trees.
Surrounded by over 40 birches I feel sheltered in my wooden cabin and workspace. Collecting fallen pieces of birch bark form the basis of this installation, painted with beewax and pigments.
